'Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location': Should It Be A Free Roam Game Upon 2016 Release Date?
C. de Lacy"Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location" is an already popular game despite not being released yet. Is it going to be a big change and departure from the old gameplay instead of playing out like the classic titles?
Up to the fourth instalment, "Five Nights at Freddy's" has always been a game wherein players need to defend themselves in a fixed booth or location. The core mechanics have always been the same though several improvements are being applied in each iteration.
In fact, there was a game that already took the direction, but it was not officially done by Scott Cawthon, the creator of the original FNAF series. The game was called "CASE: Animatronics" which is published by HypeTrain Digital.
The game is extremely inspired from the FNAF universe, but with a potentially great feature of letting players roam around the place on foot.
The game has better graphics compared to the original FNAF games as it is rendered in full 3D and not pre-shot images only.
There are no take notices as of yet from the original creator of FNAF as it doesn't exactly copy the game's mechanics. However, it does take inspiration from the "animatronics" scare and the use of the tablet for tracking their locations.
For some, it might be a good idea to ditch FNAF's old mechanics and introduce this same style with "Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location" due to its nature being a spin-off. As with a lot of game under the same category, gameplay changes isn't really a big deal and is usually taken as a nice change of pace.
However, some fans may still prefer the classic gameplay mechanics of "Five Nights at Freddy's" for the spin-off as it gives the players the feeling of being trapped in the corner and have to defend themselves.
If the game goes free-roam, the game becomes more active and opens up new possibilities for the players. However, it may take away some scare factor to the game as it lets the players become more in control.
Becoming more in control doesn't necessarily mean it is always better especially with how FNAF works. Being stuck in a place waiting for your character's eventual demise is a spine-chilling experience on its own, otherwise the players can cook up with ways to prevent themselves from dying.
Whatever the direction of the game may end up, fans are surely anticipating its release, which is rumored to be this coming October. Stay tuned for more updates and news here.
