Samsung did its best to keep its next flagship phone under wraps until the official announcement due in less than two weeks, but it now seems that Amazon Germany may have accidentally leaked some juicy info.
As Android Next spotted and The Verge reported, the Samsung Galaxy S3 has been featured on a German Amazon Web page. According to the listing, the phone sports a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display, a 12-megapixel camera with autofocus, face detection and LED flash, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and 16GB of internal memory, "expandable to 32GB."
Tinhte Video May Feature the New Samsung Galaxy S3
And there's more to the story. On Friday, April 20, PC World's Jared Newman reported that the Galaxy S3 may have been featured in a video on Tinhte, a Vietnamese Web site famous for revealing unannounced phones. The video was removed from the site, but Engadget managed to get a copy just in time. According to Tinhte, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3 boasts a 1.4GHz quad-core processor, a 4.6-inch screen with a resolution of 1184 x 720 pixels, 1GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel camera, 16GB of internal storage, microSD slot, NFC (near field communication) capability, and a 2050 mAh battery. The video also showed the phone using software navigation rather than dedicated buttons, a feature that proved very popular on Samsung's Galaxy Nexus.
The listing on the German Amazon Web page files the phone under "mobile phones without contract," but does not feature an image. The Samsung Galaxy S3 price is €599 ($788), according to the listing.
Less than Two Weeks Before London Unveiling
Samsung is slated to unveil its new flagship smartphone at an event in London on May 3, but anticipation is already building up ahead of the official unveiling. Samsung's Galaxy S and Galaxy S II were wildly popular, selling a cumulated 30 million. The new Samsung Galaxy S3 is expected to be even more popular than its previous iterations and make a strong rival to Apple's iPhone.
Amazon does not list any additional details, but the official unveiling is in less than two weeks away. The May 3 event will put an end to all rumors and speculation regarding the specs and features of Galaxy S3, so Android fans just have to have a little more patience. And, should the rumors prove to be true, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3 will definitely be worth the wait.
