Ubisoft Massive is pulling out all the stops to revive its once popular shooter title "Tom Clancy's The Division," but the game may not be able to survive the rest of the year.

Earlier, Ubisoft announced that due to numerous fan and critic feedback, the developer is delaying the release of its latest DLC's "Survival" and "Last Stand."

"With Update 1.4 in the works, it has become clear with your feedback and our own observations that our priority should now be on improving the core gameplay experience," Ubisoft wrote on the blog. "For this reason, we have made several adjustments to our development schedule."

The developer announced that "Survival will now come out later this year, instead of the initial October release date window. "Last Stand," on the other hand, will be pushed to early 2017. The October 1.4 update will instead focus on bug fixes, game balancing and more improvements.

Speculations, however, point to the fact that a lot of big name shooters will be launched around the same time as "Survival"'s initial release date.

Electronic Arts has two completely different shooters coming up in October, "Battlefield 1" and "Titanfall 2,"to be released a week away from each other. Treyarch's next "Call of Duty" title, "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare," will also be released early November.

Ubisoft must have thought that the "Survival" DLC will not survive, pun intended, the onslaught of new, highly anticipated shooter titles coming up. And if the previous "Underground" expansion is of any indication, then Ubisoft is in for a massive flop if ever it decides to go head to head with these new games.

To Ubisoft's credit, the developer is trying hard to make sure the fans' feedback is fully considered, even inviting the players themselves to help them improve the game. A Public Test Server for "The Division" will be launched shortly for the PC, and as Ubisoft puts it, "a great way to involve" players in the improvement process.
