The recent break-up of Tom Hiddleston and Taylor Swift includes the inescapable question, "Who Dumped Whom?"

A friend of the hunky actor who worked with Hiddleston on the 2014 stage production of Coriolanus told UK's Heat Magazine that it was Tom who wanted out.

"The reports are wide of the mark and come as news to all Tom's friends," the source said. "He grew tired of Taylor; it wasn't the other way round."

"Tom drifted from her and it had nothing to do with her being put off by the publicity," the source added. "It's more to do with the fact he's a commitment-phobe who gets bored very easily."

"They agreed to end the relationship over the phone a few weeks later," the source continued and finished it by saying, "Tom's got a lot to say privately about Taylor".

Tom Hidddleston and Taylor Swift fairytale romance ended on the 6th of September, though no reason for the split was given.

However, some friends of the superstar singer have told The Sun that Taylor wanted to "shake him off."

"Tom freaked her out with his love of the limelight," the source said. "But once things have all died down they are likely to remain friends."

The source added that the "Bad Blood" singer doesn't want to be a part of a "power couple."

"Being in a relationship which brings so much attention is not her thing," the source said. "It's all about her being an individual and a strong, independent woman."

Meanwhile, a source close to Hiddleston told The Hollywood Gossip that it was all for the show as Swift wanted to remain in the limelight until she released her next album.

"Tom and Taylor's relationship was initially set up by Taylor's PR team after they bumped into each other at Anna Wintour's house-party," the source explained.

"Tom was prepared to go along with it because he believed that he and Taylor would be able to find something in common with each other.  At least have some fun together."

Furthermore, it was reported that the two remain friends though the pair is no longer an item.

Tom Hiddleston is said to be at this year's Primetime Emmy Awards on September 18th as he is nominated for his role in "The Night Manager," while Taylor Swift is reportedly working on her new music.
