"Train to Busan" swept the box office not only in Korea, but also around the world. While many viewers are hoping for more, lead star Gong Yoo has talked about the potential sequel in a recent interview.

According to Soompi, Gong Yoo jokes about the film surpassing 10 million tickets sold.

"Lately people just greet me with 'Congrats on 10 million.' It's put a bigger weight on my shoulders," he said.

He also shared that he talked with the director of "Train to Busan," Yeon Sang Hoo, about his character in a possible sequel, but it seems like the director is opposed to the idea.

"I talked about this with Director Yeon Sang Ho, and I said that I thought my character Seok Woo might be living somewhere as a zombie," he said. "But Director Yeon said that when Seok Woo fell off the train, he broke his neck and died," he added laughing.

However, Gong Yoo left another hope for a possible second installment.

"But I suppose since Ma Dong Seok's character is living on as a zombie, they could do a sequel from his character's perspective," he said.

The actor is currently busy filming alongside Lee Dong Wook ("Blade Man," "My Girl") and Yoo In Na ("My Secret Hotel," "Queen In Hyun's Man") in the drama "Goblin," written by "Descendants of the Sun" writer Kim Eun Sook.

Meanwhile, possible remakes in US and France are also in negotiations, as reported by Variety, with Sony Pictures and 20th Century Fox among the front runners.

"Although no deal has yet been decided or signed, we're in talks with major studios and indie production houses in Hollywood and France that are highly interested in remaking the film," a source close to the negotiations told Variety.

The movie "Train to Busan" revolves around a group of passengers in a train bound to Busan who are fighting against zombies in a nationwide outbreak. As of September 7, it is reported that the movie has grossed a total of $88,146,403 worldwide.
