Possibly the best superzoom camera, the Nikon P900 bridge camera may bump up its image quality with the 1-inch sensor without sacrificing the epic zoom range.
A recent post on Nikon Rumors just this last weekend indicated that Nikon might be in the works with another superzoom 7.4-600mm f/2.8-6.3 lens, which is intended for 1-inch sensors. This, in English, is 81x zoom though in the patent, it was described as 75x.
Speculations say that this would be the soon-to-be-released Nikon Super-Zoom DL camera series. According to a source from Nikon Rumors, the DL line of cameras from Nikon are scheduled to be released on January 17th of next year.
This highly coincides with the almost a year old Nikon P900, which has the same specs in terms of lens, but only with a much bigger sensor than its original 1 / 2.3 - inch one.
The specifications conveniently fit most of the P900 specs, which leads fans and consumers to believe that besides the possibility of a DL camera, it could be a revamped Nikon P900.
The following date is derived directly from the patent file obtained by Nikon Rumors:
Patent: 2016-156901
Published on September 1st, 2016
Filed on February 24th, 2015
Zoom ratio: 75.5x

Fno: 2.75 - 5.02 - 6.44 (aperture)
2ω 92.58 13.446 1.5466 (angle of view)
BF: 1.00 - 1.00 - 1.00 (backfocus)
TL: 210.44 - 273.47 - 321.86 (total lens length)
Inner focus (between the 4th and 5th group)
Vibration Reduction (3rd group)
While there isn't much information regarding Nikon DL camera series, consumers may expect great things from it as Nikon Germany have put great emphasis at how the DL line of Nikon cameras will match with professional DSLR counterparts in an interview with Chip.De.
A number of Wildlife Photographers may find this as good news since whichever this lens will go into will be a great complementary camera. Especially for those who aren't fond of lugging too many lenses all at once. Hopefully, the camera arrives early next year.
