Today on our "Pokémon GO" guide, we will discuss how to counter the strongest gym defenders in the game.

As the focus shifts from collecting Pokémon to dominate gyms, it is important to know which Pokémon is more effective in taking down the toughest gym defenders.

All Pokémon have certain weaknesses, and this can be used to your advantage. Here is a list of the strongest gym defenders in "Pokémon GO" and its weaknesses.

Dragonite

Weaknesses: Ice, Rock, Fairy, Dragon

Recommended Counters: Clefable, Wigglytuff, Cloyster, Lapras, Dewgong, Jinx, Golem, Gyarados

Lapras

Weaknesses: Rock, Electric, Grass, Fighting

Recommended Counters: Omastar, Magneton, Arcanine, Rapidash, Poliwrath, Magmar

Snorlax

Weaknesses: Fighting

Recommended Counters: Clefable, Golem

Vaporeon

Weaknesses: Grass, Electric

Recommended Counters: Victreebel, Vileplume, Venusaur, Exeggutor, Tangela, Parasect

Poliwrath

Weaknesses: Electric, Grass, Fairy, Flying, Psychic

Recommended Counters: Victreebel, Vileplume, Venusaur, Exeggutor, Tangela, Parasect, Hypno, Slowbro

Gyarados

Weaknesses: Electric

Recommended Counters: Magneton, Electabuzz, Raichu, Jolteon, Voltorb

Exeggutor

Weaknesses: Fire, Ghost, Ice

Recommended Counters: Scyther, Parasect, Arcanine, Flareon, Charizard, Venomoth

Slowbro

Weaknesses: Bug, Electric, Grass, Ghost

Recommended Counters: Exeggutor, Tangela, Parasect

Here are the best gym defenders in "Pokémon GO": Lapras, Dragonite, Poliwrath, and Snorlax. These Pokémon have the perfect balance in terms of offense and defense, and are the most effective when guarding gyms.
