Popular shooter game "Overwatch's" resident DJ and support hero Lucio is hailed as the game's most popular character, while other support heroes Ana and Symmetra take the last two slots.

According to stats gathered by Master Overwatch, the support hero takes the top spot among the 22-hero lineup in "Overwatch." Another popular support hero, Mercy, takes the third spot, behind offense hero Soldier:76. Two more offense characters Pharah and Genji make up the top five spots.

Support characters are understandably popular in games as they are essential in keeping their teammates in tiptop shape. Both Lucio and Mercy are the top choices when it comes to support, with their skills coming in handy during matches.

On the other end of the spectrum, however, lies the remaining support heroes on "Overwatch." The newest character, Ana, ends up at the bottom of the list, followed by Symmetra, Winston (tank) and Zenyatta.

According to Game Rant, Ana's late arrival to "Overwatch" may be one of the reasons why she is under used in the game. The game was already a few months old when she was released, which means players have already chosen their favorites prior to her arrival.

As for Symmetra, Blizzard has plans of possibly beefing up her stats to entice more people into choosing her for matches. In an interview with Business Insider, "Overwatch" director Jeff Kaplan confirmed that a huge update is in store for the least-loved support character.

"She's a hero who's very situational and she actually gets played a fair bit, but she gets switched off of," Kaplan said about Symmetra. "What happens commonly is players will play her on defense on the first part of a point, and then when they've lost that point, then they'll switch off of Symmetra. So, that definitely impacts her play time when you're looking at the stats."

"Now, a character being that situational is not really desirable to us, so even though I can kind of justify why it happens, that doesn't mean that I believe that it's right," the director said. "So Symmetra is a hero who's on our list right now to take a good look at and really investigate."

Kaplan said that Symmetra will receive a much needed overhaul sometime in November.
