Xiaomi Mi 5 vs Moto Z Play Review: Which Is The Better Camera Phone? Specs Comparison

Lenovo launched the Moto Z-Play with outstanding features like Moto Mods in a mid-budget range premium smartphone, taking on the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi's Mi 5. Since its launch, buyers are in dilemma to choose which since both are priced in the same range.

Here is a specific comparison between the Moto Z Play and the Xiaomi Mi5.

Display: The Moto Z-Play features a 5.5-inch super AMOLED full HD display with 1920x1080p (403 ppi pixel density) as compared to Xiaomi Mi 5 which boasts a 5.5-inch full HD screen with 1920x1080 pixel (428 ppi pixel density).

Operating System: Both phones run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with future updates features. However, the Mi 5 runs on Android 6.0 based MIUI v7.0.

Processor: Mi 5 with adreno 530 GPU and Moto Z-Play with adreno 506 GPU will excite game lovers and perform multi-tasking very well with 3GB of RAM in both. Moto-Z Play features Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset with 2.0 GHz octa core cortex A-53 processor. However, Mi 5 falls little short with 1.8 GHz Quad core processor but overtakes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset.

Storage: Lenovo offers 32 GB inbuilt storage with an expandable memory of 2 TB in Moto Z-Play. While, Xiaomi comes with 32GB, 64GB and 128 GB inbuilt storage version without expandable memory.

Camera: Xiaomi Mi 5 features a 16MP Sony IMX298 main camera with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus, OIS, dual-LED (dual tone) flash, 1/2.8" sensor size and 1.12 µm pixel size, and a 4MP front-snapper with f/2.0 aperture, 1/3" sensor size and 2µm pixel size.

While Moto Z-Play contains 16MP main camera with Laser auto-focus, Phase detection autofocus (PDAF), ƒ / 2.0 aperture, 1.3um pixel size, Zero Shutter Lag, Color balancing dual LED flash, and 5MP front-snapper with Wide-Angle 85-degree lens, ƒ / 2.2 aperture, Flash, Auto Night mode.

Battery: Moto Z Play comes with 3,510mAh while Xiaomi improves the charging speed with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology and 3,000mAh.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 seems to have an edge with a superior processor and quick charger technology. However, the Moto Z-Play comes with bigger screen and extra storage capacity. Apart from that if you will consider the new feature of Moto Z-Plat, the new Moto Mods then it will be a winner in this segment.
