The release date of arguably the most anticipated game of 2017, "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild," is only a few months away, and fans and critics alike have been talking about the game's potential even before it is launched.

The game has wowed fans all over the world, and almost every gamer can't wait to get their hands on Nintendo's potential masterpiece. Here are three reasons why "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" is set to become 2017's Game of the Year.

True Open-World Experience

"The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" producer Eiji Aonuma has previously expressed the team's desire to keep making changes to the tried and tested "Zelda" formula, Kotaku reported. The game's nonlinear open-world is a departure from earlier "Zelda" titles, thus making it a familar yet completely different experience.

Fans of the franchise will enjoy roaming around the kingdom of Hyrule, and will be able to experience true open world in a "Zelda" game for the first time. Aonuma even said that the game can be beaten even without finishing the story, according to Polygon.

Pre-Release Reviews

It is usual for a game to receive good reviews even before release, but "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild"'s pre-release impressions are on another level altogether.

The game demo for "Breath of the Wild" has received tons of critical acclaim, getting tons of positive nods and beating almost every games presented in all major gaming conventions where it was featured.

The demand for the game demo at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo was so high that people caused a stampede while running towards Nintendo's booth.

It's A "Zelda" Game

Let's face it, "The Legend of Zelda" is a great game franchise, and Nintendo has never disappointed its fans with a lacklustre "Zelda" game ever.

Fans expect no less from any "Zelda" title, and "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" is sure to tick all the boxes once it's released in March next year, hopefully alongside the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch.
