Sony and Activision Partner to offer PlayStation 3 and MW3 bundle for only $299

Microsoft might be hogging the entire spotlight with its $99 Xbox 360 bundle, but that isn't stopping Sony from chipping in on piece of the action. Sony announced recently that it has partnered with Activision to offer its record selling video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 with a PlayStation 3 console, and to be honest, it is a good deal.

The plan is to bundle MW3 with a 320GB PlayStation 3 and sell it for $299, an epic deal that should help boost PS3 sales which have been lagging behind competitors in recent months. While we find this deal exciting, it would have been a lot better if Sony had changed the skin of the bundled PS3 to match that of the game, the company would have had a chance to accumulate more sales by pulling in new PS3 owners and current gamers who already have a PS3 with MW3 but would like to have a system with a skin that matches their favorite game.

Right out of the box, gamers will be able to play online via the PlayStation Network for free. If you haven't joined yet, it is time you did. Alternatively, gamers can join PlayStation Plus where they will have access to features like automatic updates, online game saves, full game trials, exclusive and early access to game betas, discount on downloadable games, and a host of free content. All these will set you back $49.99 per year, or 17.99 per three month.

It's a great deal, one that hopefully will bring some attention Sony's way. The bundle will begin selling on May 25; however, Sony didn't specify when it will end. We believe it will continue while stocks last, so you might want to prepare for the date so you won't miss out on this great opportunity to get your hands on a cheap 320GB PS3 system.
