Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 vs Asus Zenfone 3 Laser Review: Which Is The More Budget-Friendly Option?

The Samsung J series smartphones are known as the budget-friendly options, while the Asus Zenfone boasts of powerful specs. Two of their latest phones, the Samsung J7 (2016) and Asus Zenfone Laser 3, are available in the market. Here is a quick comparison to see which one is the better choice.

Starting with the design, the Zenfone 3 Laser comes with a sandblasted aluminium body with rounded sides and diamond-cut chamfered edges. It features a 5.5 inch full HD (1920 x 1080) IPS display. On the other hand, the Galaxy J7 2016 has a full metallic body design with 5.5 inch display having resolution of (720 x 1280). In Zenfone 3 Laser, the fingerprint scanner is at the back while J7 (2016) doesn't have one.

Let's forget the face value and come to the functionality. On the Zenfone 3 Laser, we have a 64-bit Octa-Core 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset and Adreno 505. For multi-tasking it comes with 4GB RAM plus there is 32GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 256GB via a micro SD card.

The Galaxy J7 (2016) is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor clocked at a maximum of 1.6GHz and got 2 GB of RAM with 16 GB of internal storage. It get microSD card slots for expansion up to 256 GB. Some variants of the Galaxy J7 (2016) come with 3 GB RAM.

Further, both the devices run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. However, Zenfone 3 Laser come with Asus Zen UI 3.0 .

In terms of Camera features, Asus Zenfone 3 Laser offers a 13 megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, laser auto focus, and Electronic Image Stabilization. At its front, there is an 8 Megapixel camera for selfies. The second generation laser focus system on the phone, has a range of 1.5 meters, which is twice the distance of other laser focus systems, claims Asus.

Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) sports a 13-megapixel primary camera with Auto, Beauty Face, Continuous Shot, HDR (High Dynamic Range), Interval Shot, Night, Panorama, Pro, Selfie, Sports, Sound and Shot, Wide Selfie. On the front, there is a 5-megapixel secondary camera. Interestingly, both the cameras on J7 (2016) come with LED flash light.

In the battery department, the Galaxy J7 (2016) has an edge with 3300 mAh battery compared to the 3000 mAh battery in Zenfone 3 Laser.

The Zenfone, with a price tag of Rs.19000, has better design, more RAM, better selfie camera, and fingerprint sensor, while the Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) has better battery life and competitive features at an affordable price of Rs. 15900.
