BBC America, Space and Temple Street announced last week that the production of "Orphan Black" Season 5 is underway. Meanwhile, co-creators John Fawcett and Graeme Manson promised an epic ending for the series.

It was recalled that BBC America renewed the "Orphan Black" for its fifth and final season which is expected to air in 2017.

"Orphan Black is a thrilling, genre-bending ride that has captured our fans' imaginations and hearts like no other show," Sarah Barnett, President of BBC AMERICA, stated. "Our genius team of actors, writers and producers have, time after time, taken us to a place of awe, delight and utter shock and surprise. Tatiana has been and continues to be a complete revelation, hers is one of the most remarkable performances on television, and she is joined by an extraordinary cast. We can't wait to take our incredibly passionate audience on one final gobsmacking clone adventure."

In the meantime, co-creators of the series, John Fawcett and Graeme Manson said they were thankful to Temple Street, Space and BBC America for the support and opportunity to end it.

"We are excited to deliver an epic conclusion to the tale of Sarah and her clone sisters," Fawcett and Manson said. "The past four seasons have been a phenomenal adventure and we are eternally grateful to our loyal fans who have loved the twists and thrills of our weird little show."

Tatiana Maslany will be reprising her role as multiple Leda clones and joining her will be Elyse Levesque (SGU Stargate Universe) as Detective Engers, a dirty Neolution cop who is a true believer; Andrew Moodie (Covert Affairs) as Mr. Frontenac, Rachel's new mysterious consultant; Simu Liu (Kim's Convenience) as Mr. Mitchell, Kira's new teacher; Jenessa Grant (Reign) as Mud, an eclectic young islander, and Stephen McHattie (The Strain, Pontypool) as P.T. Westmoreland, the mythical 170-year-old founder of Neolution.

"We are so proud of the cast and crew, who will be on this final ride with us as we draw the "Orphan Black" story to a close, and extremely thankful to our partners at BBC America and Space for their continued support, as well as the legions of fans who have made these five seasons possible," said David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg, Executive Producers of "Orphan Black" and Co-Presidents of Boat Rocker Studios.

"Orphan Black" season 5 is schedule to air sometime in April 2017 with 10 episodes for its finale.
