For the past several months, fans have been clamoring for George R.R. Martin to release his latest book "Winds of Winter." Reports surfaced that the official release date will be on January 2017, however, many still believe that this will likely be moved again.

There were earlier rumors regarding the "Winds of Winter" release date being early next year. It was rumored that the draft already locked in the proofreading phase and soon it will be available for release in January 2017.

Moreover, Amazon France put up a listing for the book, however, Martin's US publisher Random House issued a statement to Entertainment Weekly about the Amazon France date making the media rounds.

"As his publisher, we support George R.R. Martin as he works hard to finish The Winds of Winter. Any on-sale dates currently listed online for the novel are incorrect. Once we have a publication date for The Winds of Winter, the world will know," the publisher stated.

Moreover, it can be recalled that even the author himself confessed that he has no specific deadline to finish the book and told fans that the book was not yet ready.

"It will be done when it's done. And it will be as good as I can possibly make it," Martin stated in his blog.

"My editors and publishers are disappointed, HBO is disappointed, my agents and foreign publishers and translators are disappointed... but no one could possibly be more disappointed than me," he added.

Martin's UK publisher Harper Collins seconded the previous publishing company's statement.

"Nothing has been finalized regarding the publication or the date," Harper Collins publishing stated.

For now, all fans of George R.R. Martin and his book "Winds of Winter" will need to wait further for the official release date.
