Im Yoona Causes Low Ratings For 'The K2'? Co-Star Ji Chang Wook Reveals Closeness With On-Screen Partner

Ji Chang Wook and Im Yoona's action-packed, melodramatic, political Kdrama entitled "The K2" on Total Variety Network (tvN) has caught the attention of K-dramagoers. However, many speculate that the reason behind its low ratings is Im Yoona's acting.

According to one report, the "The K2" drama is set to enter its final quarter on air this November but the viewership ratings are said to be in a constant decline and Im Yoona is reportedly taking the blame.

Some sources reported a staggering decline in "The K2"'s viewership ratings. According to the outlet, the series "has dropped from eight percent in viewership to about half of that number." It's quite alarming despite the fact that a four to five percent rating is still considered a good number. "The K2", after all, airs in a Korean pay channel.

However, in a contradicting article by the same news publishing, the proof of "The K2" being highly-anticipated among Korean viewers can be seen in its viewership ratings provided by AGB Nielsen Korea and TNS Media Korea. Its first episode earned 3.257 percent for the Seoul National Capital Area for the former and an average of 3.7125 percent from both for the nation. Those numbers are some of the best for tvN when it comes to a debut of a new series.

Moreover, one report noted that fans have commend Im Yoona's development in acting and defended her that she is not the cause of the low ratings. In fact, "The K2" is widely known not just in Korea but among other countries of the world.

Meanwhile, Ji Chnag Wook revealed how they got close with Im Yoona for "The K2."

"We met for the first time for this drama. Honestly, I'm pretty shy, but there's a reason why we couldn't help but get closer." Ji Chang Wook explained, "We had some intimate scenes scheduled for filming in Spain, and it would be awkward if we weren't close, so the director told us it'd be better if we got to know each other. So when we got to Spain, I asked Yoona to have coffee with me and we talked a lot. After that we naturally got much closer."

Ji Chang Wook and Im Yoona's "The K2" airs every Friday and Saturday on tvN.
