Staff Reporter

The Taiwan-based tech conglomerate Asus has already tested their fan's patience a lot and have kept on delaying the release of its unique one-of-a-kind device Asus Padfone since last year. However, the innovative concept gadget is now on sale in the Taiwan market since last week. Following the marketing and promotion of the device the company is also recently showing off an official video demo for the Padfone on YouTube, praising its display, processor, battery life and Stylus/headset accessory.

Yes, you heard it right! The Asus Padfone, which boasts the cool concept and docks a smartphone into a tablet and then the tablet turns into a notebook with the help of a keyboard dock, will also come alone with a Bluetooth headset-stylus and a keyboard dock combo.

Back in Mobile World Cngress 2012, held in Barcelona, when Asus corporate vice president Benson Lin officially announced the device in the event, he emphasized on a point that the Asus Padfone will be one of the top of the range smartphones which will come combined with the hefty charging power meant for the phone, so that it could last for nine times the usual battery life. And he also noted that the company's attempt is to produce an experience that means a consumer do not need three different devices to carry on their work, instead the consumers will be offered the features of all the devices including a smartphone, tablet and a laptop in one.

Well, having a look at the recent video demo of the Asus Pafdone, definitely looks beautiful and swift enough to compete with the iOS and Android devices prevailing in the market. Thus, it's quite relevant that instead of building a phone to beat Apple's iPhone or Samsung Galaxy Note, say for instance even a tablet to beat Apple's new iPad, or an ultrabook to contest with the MacBook Air or other hot selling laptop brands in the market, Asus has smartly built one device to give a stiff competition to all major brands in the categories at the same time.

Moreover, Asus has added all high end features to its Padfone including the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS and the power of a dual-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, accompanied with an Adreno 225 GPU, as well as 1 GB of RAM, 64 GB of on-board storage and an 8-megapixel rear-facing shooter with 5-element lens and f/2.2 aperture. The phone also sports a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display with a 540 x 960 pixels resolution, while the tablet comes with a 10.1-inch screen with 1280×800 pixels of resolution and an additional battery. Basically, a total of 14,000mAh battery to bring a power that could last for 102 hours in laptop mode.

While, on the other end, Apple's New iPad has already enthralled the position of becoming the ideal tablet for many tablet users. Being the successor to iPad 2, the new device has also justified itself, by coming out with numerous exclusive power-packed features including Retina Display, a sharper screen, a speedy and faster processor performance, the all new iSight camera and the snapping new updated operating system.

Talking about the new iPad's price points, the device was released in the market in March with the following price tags -- 16 GB: $499, 32 GB: $599 and 64 GB: $699. Further, the new model also came with variants triggered with the LTE capability. Hence, the in that case, the price tags were $629, $729 and $829 respectively for the 16, 32, and 64 GB variants.

It is known to all that currently, the new iPad remains the market leader in the media tablet segment, however, with the new Asus Padfone planned for a late May launch in Europe, can become a tough challenger for the iPad, as for right now the Padfone is priced in the Taiwan market is comparatively low price ratio. One can buy the core smartphone and tablet shell unlocked for $610 and with all of the extras combined the price total would accumulate upto $847.

At the same time, Samsung is also rumored to release its earlier announced enlarged version of Galaxy Note tablet - Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, which also features a stylus to allow users to take notes and share annotated screenshots of pictures or webpages. Unlike its smaller, 5-inch cousin, the Note 10.1 cannot also be used as a phone. However, Samsung has added many additional business security features to the Note, and said that it will use the Galaxy Tab name for purely touch devices, while adding the Note brand if they come with an S-Pen stylus.

Latest leaked reports have suggested that the Note 10.1 is going to come equipped with very powerful graphic core, the Mali T-604, more capable than any Android device to date. This can only mean a high-resolution screen, not the 1280 x 800 pixel display, which was noted during the device launch back in February. And if this rumor turns out to be true then Samsung would be able to compete with Asus Padfone and also the New iPad 3 in terms of gaming power and other spectacular performances abilities.

But if you are familiar with the Padfone concept, then you would be aware that a Padfone works both as a phone and a table, however, it does not support the features of both the devices at the same time, but still the device has an advantage and smart functioning compared to others in the Tech arena. Hence, honestly, let us know your thoughts on Asus Padfone in the comments section below. With this unique concept , will the company be able to knock out the sales of the big tech giants present in the market ocean right now? Do Apple and Samsung actually have something to worry about now, as far as their dominance in the tablet market is concerned?
