This season, smartwatch users have something new to look forward to; this includes purchasing the Apple SmartWatch 2 and Asus ZenWatch 3.

The Apple Watch Series 2 has a rectangular display with 1.65-inch OLED Retina display and a resolution of 390 x 312 pixels and 303 ppi. It is 11.4 millimeters (0.45 inches) thick.

The subtlety of display really matters in smartwatches, and Asus understands it just well enough. The Asus ZenWatch 3 has a round dial - a 1.39-inch one with an AMOLED screen. It has a 278 ppi pixel density. It has Gorilla Glass 3 to offer resistance against scratches.

At 10.75 millimeters (0.42 inches) thick, the Asus offering is the more slender smartwatch compared to the Apple product.

Memory-wise, the ZenWatch 3 has a 512 MB of RAM and a 4 GB of storage onboard storage. The Apple Watch 2 has a fast dual-core Apple S2 processor, while the ZenWatch 3 houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 2100 SoC.

When buying a smartwatch, battery becomes a significant factor as well. The ZenWatch 3 has a 340 mAh battery, which likewise gives two days of use. It is said that provides up to 18 hours of use. Comparing to the ZenWatch 3, Apple takes a major beating here. However, it tries to steal the show with the wireless charging technology which the ZenWatch 3 lacks.

Talking about the operating systems, the ZenWatch 3 runs on Android Wear OS 2.0, whereas the Apple Watch 2 runs on watchOS 3.

The Apple Watch 2 is available starting at $369, currently accessible for buying. The ZenWatch 3 is available for preorder in the US with an estimated $229 price tag.

Of the two, the ZenWatch 3 is the better budget option. In addition to the fact that it is strong, it is the sleekest smartwatch, while offering an average battery life and fast charging.
