'Destiny: Rise Of Iron': Iron Banner Event Bound To Be More Rewarding
J RoseThis week's Iron Banner event is now in full swing, and the folks at Bungie laid out their goals for the new event structure during its return to "Destiny: Rise of Iron."
In the latest "This Week at Bungie" blog, Crucible designer Jeremiah Pieschl explained the changes and the tweaks made to its monthly event.
"Previously, we used Ranks to grant reward Packages that provided a chance to earn specific Legendary items. Using the Rank mechanic in such a way was confusing to many players," Pieschl admitted. "It caused an unrewarding experience during the first several matches played in the event. Some players were even losing intentionally to avoid changing potential post-game rewards."
He then went on to confirm that players would no longer need to reach Rank Five on all characters to get all the rewards during Iron Banner, making it less time consuming compared to the previous format.
As for bounties, Bungie has fixed that, guaranteeing a Legendary Item earned from each bounty. In essence, the new format quadruples the amount of non-post-game Legendary items as compared previously.
As an end note, the designer said that the team has made changes to the Iron Banner event in such a way that the event will not fall short of its expectations.
"We don't want you to have to do complex math, abstain from participating until your investment is optimal, or feel like you have to grind just for the sake of grinding," Pieschl added. "The event is technically more rewarding than ever, in multiple ways. I hope that expressed goal reflects your experience."
This reiterates Bungie's statements prior to the launch of "Destiny: Rise of Iron." The developer has earlier expressed its commitment to make Iron Banner more rewarding, GameRant reported. This will be a step in the right direction for Bungie, and a good sign that more fixes will finally be done to the game soon.
"Destiny: Rise of Iron" Iron Banner event will end on Nov. 15, 1 a.m. PDT.
