'Ni No Kuni II' Shaping Up To Be Bigger And Better Than First Game; Kingdom Creation, More New Features Coming
J RoseFans of the first "Ni No Kuni" title on the Playstation 3, "Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch" is eagerly waiting for its installment, and it looks like "Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom" will be much bigger and better than its predecessor.
Speaking to Vandal.net (via Gematsu), Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino said that "Ni No Kuni II" will include a brand new feature: a kingdom creation system.
"There will be many new features," Hino said. "From the fact alone that we moved from PlayStation 3 to PlayStation 4, it will not be a simple RPG, and will introduce a new system focused on creating a kingdom. So yes, there will be many differences."
Hino has not said anything beyond this, but the jump from Playstation 3 to the Playstation 4 has opened a lot of possibilities for this beautiful role-playing game, which has a lot of input from renowned Japanese animation studio Studio Ghibli.
The famous studio, responsible for critically acclaimed anime films like "Spirited Away" and "My Neighbor Totoro," has produced the animated sequences in "Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch," and great composers Joe Hisaishi ("Howl's Moving Castle," "Princess Mononoke") and Rei Kondoh ("Okami","Dragon's Dogma") provided the original score for the game.
The Level-5 CEO also said in September that "Ni No Kuni II" has grown massive in scale, and now has the most staff members from Level-5 working on it at the moment. Hino assured that the team is working hard on the anticipated title.
Hino also mentioned that the next game will appeal to both adults and children, much like a Studio Ghibli anime.
"Looking back at the previous game, with the protagonist and setting in mind, its content was very much geared towards adults, but the visuals did look a bit like it was for kids, " Hino told IGN Japan in an interview.
"It may have looked too much like it was for kids," the Level-5 CEO continued, "and while we may have another young boy as the protagonist this time around, we're being careful so that we can make it into something that will completely feel like it can be played by adults."
"Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom" is currently in development, but no release window is announced by Level-5 at the moment.
