Furthermore, the CW also announced that the upcoming season will take over the timeslot of "The Vampire Diaries" which will wrap up on Mar. 10 for its season finale. Furthermore, recent spoilers revealed that "The Vampire Diaries" finale survivor shall be crossing over to save the Mikaelsons.
Since "The Vampire Diaries" is in its final season, fans are hopeful that its spinoff series "The Originals" will have more seasons. Plec has been cryptic about the fate of the spinoff since she thinks that the series will continue to run "for another couple years."
There have been speculations that Caroline will make her way to New Orleans to help Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) with his predicament. Plec also mentioned in her interviews that there was a character that she decided not to kill on TVD since that person could reappear in "The Originals." Characters that make it out alive in TVD season 8 could all move over to the spin-off and they might be the key to saving the Mikaelsons.
However, there were no statements yet about the rumors of "The Vampire Diaries" casts crossing over to "The Originals" Season 4.
