Microsoft Surface Book 2 Release Date Pushed To 2017 For Intel Kaby Lake Processor? More Specs Rumors Here
PrakashAfter one year of the first Surface Book's release, people are expecting an updated variant, a device so highly-anticipated that some leaks are surfacing all over the Internet.
It is rumored that the Microsoft Surface Book 2 will feature Intel's next-generation Kaby Lake processors and 4-K resolution. With the 14-nanometer chips from Intel having just shipped, offering native USB 3.1 Type-C and Thunderbolt 3 support in addition to featuring up to four cores as the default configuration and better CPU/GPU performance, says TechRadar.
There is no official announcement for the release of the Surface Book 2. However, it is speculated that the release of Microsoft's second Redstone update (RS2) will be coupled with some hardware release in spring next year.
Additionally, Intel already confirmed that its 14-nanometer Kaby Lake processors, won't come out until 2016's tail-end. The two most anticipated features to be included in the Surface 2 are better screen and more power.
It is rumoured that the Book 2 will come with a similar 13.5" screen but with 4K resolution with better graphics architecture that improves playback of 4K video and 3D graphics. It may also come with detachable keyboard feature whether the device is on or off.
According to rumors, if the Surface Book 2 will be packed with Kaby Lake, there is need of more battery to power the laptop. With increased performance and resolution of screen, power consumption also increases. We can expect larger battery than the previous one.
Microsoft is definitely going to release the Surface Book 2 with the hardware and software at par with its market competitor like Apple Macbook Pro, Dell Ultrabook, and HP Spectre. The release date, however, is still a blur.
