'Final Fantasy XV' Guide: Maximize AP Farming, Early Access To Great Magic

Gram

Much like some of its predecessors, "Final Fantasy XV" introduces Ascension Grid which lets you unlock abilities, magic and other bonuses. Maximizing your AP gain means you'll be able to unlock those earlier and faster which will be rewarding when you reach the later part of the game.

So how do you start farming AP to get stronger? Thankfully, iDigital Times via ND Medina has a guide for us on how to start raking in those AP, how to maximize AP farming, and eventually unleash those devastating magic on your enemies early in the game. This guide might contain spoilers though, so consider yourself warned.

To begin with, after finishing your conversations with Cindy at Hammerhead, you will have 10 AP to start off. After that go to Cotisse Haven and absorb the elemental deposits, then camp for 1 AP but make sure to choose a recipe with no ingredients. Moving on, take the "Stirred, Not Shaken" tour with Ignis and you'll get 20 AP.

Go back to Hammerhead then head straight to Mini-mart. Buy 91 bottles of Sheep Milk for 910 gil making your total count to 92 bottles.

Continue your main quest and do the first four strategy tutorials which will earn you 12 AP upon completion. To gain the bonus 3 AP, try defeating the enemies using either parries, blindsides, or warp-strikes. Once Dave is free, talk to him and choose "do it for a price" to gain another 2 AP.

Now go to Merrioth Haven this time, absorb the elemental deposits and unlock Happy Camping Ascension node. Choose to camp and pick whatever food you like and your party should reach level 3, earning you 26 AP. Now go unlock Happier Camping in your Ascension grid.

Moving on, go south and fight the Dualhorn to complete the tutorial strategy prompt on blindsides which earns you 3 AP. ND Medina suggests using your three Fire Spells from your Magic Flasks to defeat it.

Next, keep going south then east to Criclawe Haven. Absorbing the elemental energy here should maximize your three elements. Train with Gladio and defeat him, then camp. After that go back to Merrioth Haven and camp again gaining you a total of 11 AP.

By this time, you should be able to unlock Powercraft in your Ascension grid with all those AP you've earned. If it's still not enough you can go back to Criclawe Haven and camp some more.

Now craft 14 "Dualcast: Firaga" spells with 207 potency by putting all your fire energy and Sheep Milk in a flask. ND Medina says this is enough to take on Bloodshot with one shot when you encounter it at your main quest.

Moving forward, complete the "Rise and Shine and Run" tour at Lachyrte Haven for 20 AP when visiting Galdin Quay for the first time.

You'll want to unlock these next in the Ascension grid for better AP farming:

  • Roadrunning

  • Angler Action

  • Aftertaste

  • Appetize

  • Magic Action

  • Elementalism

  • Chocobump

Unlocking these abilities will let you farm AP passively either by traveling, camping, and/or doing sidequests. Once you have a bit more AP, you'll want to unlock Elementality and Extra Powercraft for more lethal damage with your spells.

With these abilities in hand, no monsters can stop you from advancing in your quest. Stay tuned for more guides on "Final Fantasy XV."
