'Pokémon Sun and Moon' Guide: How To Play On PC With Decent Framerates And Cheats

C. de Lacy

Playing "Pokémon Sun and Moon" is best experienced with a real 3DS, but thanks to emulators, fans can still play the game on a bigger screen, possibly higher resolution up to HD and get the perks of using cheats easily. It's also ideal for those not just ready to get a 3DS. Here's how to set things up.

A guide, courtesy of Emulation Showdown, explained how to be able to play the latest 3DS "Pokemon" game "Pokémon Sun and Moon" without stumbling to huge numbers of lagspikes, hiccups and general framerate drops.

To get things prepared, take note that the emulation of "Pokémon Sun and Moon" and pretty every 3DS game will require some serious amount of processing power. This may not work on older machines, though it could be run by some when these optimization tips are followed.

The next step is getting the emulator, which can be done by visiting this link. As for the ROM itself, we'll have to skip that for copyright purposes, though it is possible to dump a rom file if you legally own the game or be savvy enough to google it.

Once all is downloaded and installed, the user simply needs open the GPU settings. That would either be the Catalyst for an ATI card or Gforce Configuration for Nvidia ones. The Vsync or Vertical Synchronization must be set to "On" or "Adaptive." If this is the case, simply turn it off for a huge gain for FPS.

Once the speed is taken care of, all that the player needs to worry about now are the lines on the game screen, which can also be removed via the "Cheats" menu under "Emulation." Simply enter the cheats listed below;

With these settings, the game should be running on a decent frame rate now. For most machines, this should provide somewhere 50 - 55 frames per second. Not perfect, but not bad either.
