Xiaomi Mi Mix Review: Phone Flaunts Impressive Bezel Less Design, But Lags In Selfie Camera

Xiaomi is foraying into the future of smartphones with its latest the Mi Mix model, looking like a Sci-Fi movie prop and a high-tech dream come true.

The best in class visible innovation from Xiaomi sports a 6.4" IPS LCD display of 1080p resolution with 17:9 aspect ratio.

The Mi Mix is powered by the Snapdragon 821 chip with either 4 or 6 gigs of RAM. The quad-core Kryo CPU has an amazing clocking speed of 2.35GHz. The gaming experience has been taken care by Adreno 530 GPU.

The amazing bezel less design saw an unique positioning of 5MP selfie camera at the bottom of the smartphone, capable of 1080p video recording at 30fps. On the other hand, there is a 16MP main camera with EIS, phase-detect AF, dual-tone flash which captures 2160p video at 30fps.

In terms of storage, it doesn't offer external support. However, it comes in two variants of 128GB and 256GB internal storage option.

We fall short of expectations from this future smartphone as the Mi Mix has few shortcomings like uninspiring camera specs and no-water proofing. Additionally, it runs on Android 6.0 with MIUI 8, which is not the most recent Android OS version.

Finally, a 4,400 mAh battery should provide you with enough power autonomy with fast charging option.

Xiaomi has launched this amazing piece for mass market as compared to other edgeless screen phones, which are available in extremely limited numbers (and places).

Summing up, the CNY 3,499 price tag for the Mi Mix is satisfying for the amazing built and design, but the small camera sensor and lack of OIS can potentially be a turn off.
