Microsoft is all set to launch their own smart speaker range with the Windows 10 Home Hub to provide a tough competition to other leading brands in the market like Amazon and Google. Below we have pitted the upcoming device against the Amazon Echo speaker to help you choose the better gadget once the Microsoft unit is launched next year.

The Verge reported that Microsoft is currently developing new software technology which will turn its latest version of the Windows 10 computer into a smart, voice-guided speaker. According to the reports, the Redmond-based technology giant has teamed up with Intel to develop the hardware required for Windows 10 Home Hub.

On the other hand, the Amazon Echo is separate voice-activated smart home speaker hardware and not some software integrated into another unit. The device is also touted to consist of futuristic design along with an array of seven microphones and advanced noise-cancelling technology.

Moving on, it is stated that the new Windows 10 Home Hub software unit will totally be compatible with the Microsoft's voice assistant Cortana, which will provide the speaker with far-field speech commands and wake-on voice functionality.

Conversely, the Echo device is compatible with Amazon's voice-assistant Alexa, which provides the users with enhanced far-field speech recognition accuracy. It allows the users to play music from their smartphone or stream it over Wi-Fi. The users can also shoot commands with Alexa and Amazon Echo in order to control their smart home devices.

Rumors hinted that the Windows 10 Home Hub will help its users create a login-free desktop, which will enable them to share resources like reminders, shopping lists between family members. Alternatively, both the devices are expected to provide the users with the ability to recognize the voice commands from a much greater distance as compared to other devices available in the market.

Furthermore, reports suggested that the Windows 10 Home Hub will also be released with integrated light and motion sensors, which will wake the computer whenever someone enters the room similar to the Amazon Echo.
