Patch 7.0 Update; What is new and Fan Reviews

Jomst C.

After 10 years of playing DOTA in the version 6, finally, a game changing update patch has been released for DOTA 2! Mixed emotions from Multilayer On-line Battle Arena (MOBA) players around the world regarding the recent patch update has been expressed.

Last December 13, 2016, the release of DOTA 2 version 7.0 update rocked the MOBA community. Game changing add-ons, map iterations, overall balancing of the characters have been made and much more!

To get into the details; one of the anticipated releases in the patch, is the addition of a new hero, the Monkey King, to the huge lineup of a roster of selectable heroes. This hero addition still has to prove its worth in the selection process of compatibility amongst veteran DOTA 2 players.

The Monkey King skills are to be aware of due to its flexibility and adaptability. A battle hungry unit, Monkey King can jump from tree to tree to give enemy units a nasty surprise. Summons a group of soldiers in his likeness to assist in battle, and to finish enemies off with a slam of his legendary staff.

One of the unit's innate skill is his adaptability to disguise himself as inspired by his surroundings named "Mischief". As a monkey, his "Tree dance skill", gives him the power to leap across trees and slam down on enemies on an area, to slow them down, with his activated channeled ability the "Primal Spring".

To strike enemies gravely, the "Boundless Strike" extends his staff and slams it to the ground to stun enemies. While attacking enemies, the staff charges with power, gaining bonus damage and life steal.

To top it all off, he creates a group of soldiers by giving life to a portion of his fur to join him in his battle. Talk about a battle-ready unit.

Aside from the new unit addition, there is an update on the Head-up Display (HUD) also. The in-game interface has been rebuilt, for players to have efficient control of their hero alongside learning and gathering data on their environment, which is crucial to get that enemy Ancient. Players gained an additional range of vision of the map and new ways to know what is happening in-game.

A simplified option for the background has been provided by the quick-read mini-map option. Teammate's health, mana and buy back status are displayed and accessible in top bar teammate status.

No more hassle of getting out of the game just to adjust settings. Settings can now be adjusted in-game without leaving the map.

Hero development is much made accessible for the update. However crazy the fight is, leveling your hero up is just one-click away.

Getting items from shops are made simpler. The view of available items on shops are now tailored to your hero, item suggestions have been updated to see the standard build and other alternative set items.

Another major beneficial addition to players that creates a solid team play is the pre-game adjustments. A lot of things are to consider when selecting heroes for your team, especially with numerous options available when it comes to hero selection. Tools have now been provided for better planning and team strategies, while the game loads.

And finally the gameplay, the new patch has introduced hero talent trees. The patch introduced a new way for players to adapt to the needs of their battles, heroes can now select talent options when they reach a certain level that increases their capabilities in battle.

Also, the map layout has been greatly modified in terms of farming area placement, Roshan location and number of runes available and where it is located. A lot of things to gain knowledge about for players to really master the map.

All the adjustments made for the new patch is really a game changer. Mixed sentiments and reactions are coming from the MOBA community regarding the recent update.

A number of DOTA 2 players does not like the changes on the map layout and terrain adjustments, to the point that some say the game turned into a copy of "League of Legends". A group of fans also criticize , the game creator, Valve for lack of testing period before the actual update. Alongside all the comments and reactions, DOTA will constantly evolve as the company describes it, but some followers do not think the same.
