Super Mario Run: The Hype Revenue Prediction and Market share

Jomst C.

On the day of the launch of Nintendo's Super Mario Run, as a free download with an In-App Purchase (IAP) of $9.99, it was the top grossing app in eight different countries. The continuous running game was at the top of the charts in USA, Canada, Germany, Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Colombia, according to App Annie.

In other countries such as United Kingdom, Peru, Paraguay, Panama, Italy, Honduras, Luxembourg, Bolivia, Dominican Republic and El Salvador, Super Marion Run was the second highest grossing app in the list.

Ranking 49th on the over-all list amongst 150 countries, the download rankings fared well. While in Japan, where Mario originated, the game only got 11th place on the top grossing list but was the top of the list for the download list.

Against its competitor big games such as Monster Strike and Puzzle & Dragons, Super Mario Run won't be able to stay for a lengthy time in the list of top grossing games.

The Nintendo game launched last December 15, 2016. The prediction of SuperData Research, the game will gross for $60 million in profit and will be downloaded at approximately 30 million times for initial month's release.

On estimation, a prediction of 6 million players will play with IAP that would yield to a conversion rate of 20%. Though the number prediction is lower compared to Pokemon GO, the game is yet to be released for android users. Though the prediction is a bit conservative compared to Sensor Tower's prediction, the prediction is more achievable and is not beyond reach.

Super Mario Run, in its few days of running, is currently basking in its glory, being in the top grossing charts in several countries. However, since the day of the launch, a 5% drop in shares in Nintendo has been experienced.
