Here Are The Steps To Update Your Asus Google Nexus 7 (2013) To Android 7.1.1 AICP ROM [VIDEO]
Vinay PatelThe Android 7.1.1 Nougat-based AICP ROM has been rolled out by Android Custom ROM developers. The ROM strikes a perfect balance between AOSP and an array of custom features adapted from CyanogenMod 14.1 (CM14.1).
It's worth noting that AOSP warrants a brisk and an unceasing Android experience for users. Let's check out a few tips, tricks, system requirements, and steps to update Asus Google Nexus 7 into Android 7.1.1 Nougat-based AICP custom ROM.
Updating Google Nexus 7 (2013) to Android 7.1.1 AICP: Requirements
First off, the user must download and install USB drivers for their Google Nexus 7 (2013) LTE on their PC. As soon as that is done, the user must enable the USB debugging option. This can be done by selecting Menu, then Settings, and then Applications. The user must then click on Developer Options to ensure that USB Debugging is enabled.
It is important to also make sure that the Google Nexus 7 (2013) device is not rooted and the user must also verify whether or not a TWRP recovery is installed.
After that, the user needs to check if their Google Nexus 7 (2013) tablet is not below 70% of charge. It's worth noting that some features might not work correctly as this is an unofficial build. Before moving ahead, it is recommended for users to visit Nougat's developer's thread on XDA Forums for bug reports, change log, and support.
Google Nexus 7 (2013) To Android 7.1.1 AICP: Installation Steps
First, the user must download Android 7.1.1 AICP custom ROM along with Google Apps for Google Nexus 7 (2013) device on their PC.
Once that's done, the user must connect and mount the device's USB mass storage on PC with the USB cable.
Next, the downloaded AICP ROM zip file must be copied to the root folder on the device's SD card.
Upon completing the above step, the user must power off the device and disconnect its USB cable from the PC.
Now, the user must boot the device into Bootloader Mode. This can be done by pressing and holding the Volume up, Volume down, and Power buttons together.
The next step involves following the on-screen instructions. The user must enter recovery mode by selecting the Bootloader option and then, perform a full data wipe task by going to the Wipe Data/Factory Reset option. The user can navigate between options using the Volume keys and select an option in the Recovery Mode using the Power Button, International Business Times reported.
Then, the user must perform Wipe Cache Partition and wait for the process to complete.
It is important to perform Wipe Dalvik Cache, too. In order to do this, the user must go to the "advanced" option and just click Wipe Dalvik Cache. This will put a lid on issues related to boot loop or boot ROM while the firmware is being installed.
Once the aforementioned steps are completed, the user must then return to the main recovery menu and select Install Zip from SD card.
In that option, the user must select Choose Zip from SD card. Volume keys can be used to navigate to the AOSP ROM zip file that the user copied earlier to his/her device's SD card and select it by tapping the power button. The user must confirm the ROM installation on the next screen to go ahead with the installation process.
The user must repeat the last two steps to install Google Apps (or Gapps).
Once the Gapps and ROM are installed, select "+++++Go Back+++++" and then choose Reboot System Now in the Recovery menu.
This will reboot the Google Nexus 7 (2013) smartphone. It is important to bear in mind that the first boot could take about five minutes to complete.
The Google Nexus 7 (2013) smartphone will run the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat through the AICP custom ROM as soon as the aforesaid steps are completed. Users can even verify the firmware version installed by going to Settings and then tapping on About tablet.
