The year 2016 has been a thrilling year for video game fans around the world. The year has seen the unveiling of the highly anticipated Sony Ps4 game console along with its early upgrade, the Ps4 pro. 2016 was also the year when video game players are spoiled with high quality video games that are both top notch in graphics and provide exciting yet challenging gameplay.

The coming 2017 may be a better year for video games as numerous sought after games are slated to be released but, still, the top video games of 2016 are no push overs.

The Top Video Games Of 2016

Overwatch

The first person shooter (FPS) game was able to successfully cater the gaming needs of both the hardcore gamers and newbies.

Overwatch, a team based FPS, combines exhilarating graphics with well thought of characters and skills. Though the game's developer, Blizzard, had few missteps in updating the game, Ovewatch remained atop the FPS game echelon. The variety that the game offers with its 21 characters, which are of different races, genders, body types and sexual orientation also enhances the appeal of Overwatch to video game players.

Tom Clancy's The Division

This holiday season is probably the best time to start playing Tom Clancy's The Division video game.

The game's storyline begins at a pre-Christmas sale where someone has intentionally spread infected bank notes which unleashed a weaponized virus, similar to small pox, all throughout New York. Few months after the attack, armed gangs are roaming the streets and the game's main character is tasked to secure what remains of the city government as it looks for a cure.

Battlefield 1

The latest installment to the successful Battlefield game franchise takes players to World War 1. Although the game lack historical accuracy, Battlefield 1 compensates with its dynamic battlefield.

Battlefield 1 offers an excellent alternative for FPS players who does not prefer the colorful imagery present in Overwatch.
