AMD To Feature Both HBM2 & GDDR5/X Memory; Will Launch Full Range Of New Vega Radeon GPUs Soon [VIDEO]
Keisuke AkioAMD is reportedly gearing up for a new comprehensive list of Radeon graphics cards based on its cutting-edge Vega architecture. The latest series will also showcase a GDDR5/X memory, as well as a second-generation high bandwidth memory.
AMD highlighted Vega on its roadmaps last year and it was assumed that Vega itself will be the HBM2 card. In addition, there is another HBM2 card based on Vega's architecture that will match Nvidia in the high-end graphics card category --- and so as other graphics cards because of Vega's move to cater other memory interfaces. There will also be GDDR5 variants in this forthcoming launching.
According to Fudzilla, AMD is set to release the 2017 Radeon graphics card series with Vega's architecture. The forthcoming series will consist of a high-end 4K 60fps triple-A gaming Radeon graphics card. There will be mid-range and entry-level graphics card for both 1440p and 1080p gaming. The high-end models will also get infused with HBM2, while the GDDR5/X memory will be integrated for the mid-range and budget-friendly graphics cards.
In an interview with Wccftech earlier this year, AMD's Robert Hallock confirmed that the GCN graphics architecture is well-matched with both GDDR5 memory and HBM standards. This confirmation is not surprising, considering the intricacy required with stacking high bandwidth memory perishes. Fudzilla further narrated that as of the moment, there is no confirmation concerning whether AMD's mid-range and entry-level products will utilize the standard GDDR5 memory or the faster GDDR5X.
The impending graphics card was demonstrated in a head-to-head evaluation with Nvidia's GTX 1080. The demonstrated Vega graphics card had 8GB of HBM2 and outperformed with 1080 by a 10 percent margin while running Doom at 4K in Vulkan. Nvidia, the company termed after a Roman vengeance demon, is basically not able to sleeping since then and is now working on its 2017 lists for a great comeback.
