"Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" is no doubt the best movie in the franchise ever. It signaled the start of the very massive fandom and it keeps increasing as time goes by - most especially now that the series is expanding with "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" and the spin-off "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story."
Now, it appears like the very first film ever released for the franchise may have just been restored to latest graphics resolution advancement, as revealed by "Rogue One" director, Gareth Edwards.
"On day one, we were in Lucasfilm in San Francisco with Industrial Light and Magic and John Knoll, our supervisor, he said that they've got a brand new 4K restoration print of A New Hope - it had literally just been finished. He suggested we sit and watch it. Obviously, I was up for that," Edwards said during his interview with Little White Lies.
While the thought of a re-released 4K version of "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" is exciting, the news doesn't necessarily point out that it will actually come out to theaters, and for the fans to feast their eyes on. Screenrant thinks that it could just be for the people who work behind-the-scenes.
Furthermore, Lucasfilm has yet to release any kind of official news or indication for the coming of 4K re-release for the original "Star Wars" trilogy, which includes the one mentioned above, "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back" and "Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi."
There are some who are still being hopeful for a potential release of "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" in 4K. Comicbook speculates that it could be a good move to boost the next year home release of "Rogue One" - if the production ever decides to include a 4K home edition copy for the fourth episode that is.
"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" was first released in the United States on Dec. 16. No specific release date yet for the film's home edition.
