Samsung Galaxy S8 vs LG G6: Security, RAM, Display, Water-Resistance Features Compared
Resma C Mara RevAs the year 2016 ends, smartphone enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for new releases that will herald the year 2017. With this, most are looking forward to the newest releases from Samsung and LG.
Two phones that will determine the future of their companies are Samsung S8 and LG G6. With the obvious failure of Samsung Note 7, Samsung needs this latest device to be a success and, at the same time, LG needs to make a comeback from the low sales they got for G5 in 2016. Both companies have been making quite a noise for each of their products and there are reports that LG G6 and Samsung Galaxy S8 may have a simultaneous release.
Here is a comparison between two devices in terms of their security feature, display, processor and RAM, as well as waterproof certification.
Security Features
Samsung S8 is expected to have a display-embedded finger scanner while LG is expected to roll-out its 2017 flagship phone with an iris scanner. Others may notice that the iris scanner is the same as the idea on the Galaxy Note 7. LG brought a new touch to the iris scanner in its own device, reportedly combining two cameras in a single module. This will let both cameras function using the same lens, which is expected to enhance the response rate of the camera.
Processor or RAM
Samsung S8 will house a Snapdragon 835 processor that will support a 6GB or 8GB RAM. On the other hand, LG G6 will sport Snapdragon 830, which is quite less powerful than that in Samsung S8, and will also only have 4GB RAM.
Display
Samsung S8 and LG G6 are both expected to have OLED displays. The difference is that Samsung S8 is expected to come out with an edge-to-edge full OLED display and an all-glass body, while LG G6 is said to sport a metal back with a full glass display.
Water Resistance Certificate
Both devices are expected to be water-resistant. However, LG G6 is only expected to be mildly water resistant like that of iPhone 7, because of its modular design. Samsung S8, with an IP68 certification, is expected to be highly water-resistant.
These are the expected features of both phones. While enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for the devices because of these, note that these still specs remain to be seen when the devices are officially released. The two are expected to first appear at the MWC 2017.
