Gone are the days that gadgets are simply judged for their features. 2016 has seen the growing trend of creating gadgets that are not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing. The increase in the attention given to the visual appeal of gadgets may have some setbacks as there are times when too much focus in design have resulted to stretching what the device is capable to handle.

A great precautionary tale for a device being too focused in design at the risk of function is the explosion scandal that plagued Samsung's Note 7. However, there are some devices where the perfect balance of design and quality is met. A great example of the devices which perfected the combination of visual appeal and function are ZTE Nubia Z11 and Xiaomi Mi Mix. The Nubia Z11 and Mi Mix may be considered as among the best bezel less smartphones in the market today.  In terms of being bezel less, the Mi Mix comes out as a winner as it boasts a 91% screen to body ratio compared to the 75% of the Nubia Z11.

In terms of materials used in the smartphone's exterior, the metal frame of the Nubia Z11 will, without a doubt, outmatch the ceramic enclosure of Mi Mix. Also, the ceramic casing of Mi Mix tend to look dirtier as fingerprints easily attaches to it.

One of the key features of going bezel less is the lack of edges in the device. Although a 100% bezel less smartphone is yet to be introduced, the curved glass covering of the Nubia Z11 has successfully hidden the bezels of the phone compared to the Mi Mix in which a slim bezel can still be seen.

The bezel less smartphone design has been favored for not only does it make a phone more ergonomic but it actually serves a function. One of the seemingly obscured functions of the bezel less design in smartphones is that it makes the smartphones a bit narrower, meaning users can easily use their smartphones with just one hand.
