Guillermo del Toro Curses At Konami; Here’s Why The ‘Pacific Rim’ Director Really Hates The Game Publisher
Arianne GiftFans of Guillermo del Toro pretty much know by now that the "Pacific Rim" and "Hellboy" director clearly despises Konami. The publisher previously canned the director's collaboration with Hideo Kojima on its "Silent Hills" project, and its final months of employment in the studio did not go so well either.
Head on to del Toro's Twitter, where he went on to tell the world of his displeasure for the company in the bluntest of ways. "Important Holiday messages that right true today as they always have: Feliz Navidad. Happy Holidays. F**k Konami," he wrote.
Del Toro had always been vocal about Konami, expressing his frustrations before upon the cancellation of the "Silent Hills" project. The acclaimed director was quoted before, saying that the publisher's decision to dump the horror revival was "one of the most moronic things" he's witnessed, according to GameSpot. The company kept mum on the subject and Kojima has since broken his ties with Konami, focusing on his own "Death Stranding" under his new Kojima Productions.
"Silent Hills" wasn't the first video game project that got shelved involving del Toro. The director was previously hard at work with a horror game called "Insane," alongside THQ. The game never made it, partly because of bankruptcy reports on the company's part. Having been burned twice, del Toro somehow cursed the idea of making a game of his own.
Things have turned out quite well for del Toro, though, as he is also involved in "Death Stranding," having made an appearance in a trailer for the game at the recent Game Awards 2016. The illustrious director is expected to talk more about the game in the coming months; the same applies for actor Norman Reedus. Reedus will appear in the coming PlayStation exclusive game. As of the moment, del Toro's newest project, "Trollhunters," is out now on Netflix.
