It is devastating news to know that an original "Star Wars" cast member, and perhaps one of the most iconic, Carrie Fisher, has died at the age of 60. The actress was reported to have suffered a heart attack on a flight from London to Los Angeles, which then eventually led to her death on December 28, 2016.

According to The Guardian, the news was confirmed in an official statement by the actress' daughter, Billie Lourd, who said Fisher was "loved by the world" and will be "profoundly missed." Carrie Fisher is the daughter of two Hollywood celebrities, Debbie Reynolds and the late singer Eddie Fisher.

Debbie Reynolds posted on Twitter, describing Fisher as "amazing" and thanked everyone who embraced the gifts and talents of Reynolds' daughter. Reynolds added she is grateful for everyone's thoughts and prayers that are guiding her now to Fisher's next stop.

Meanwhile, other "Star Wars" cast reacted to the Fisher's sudden death online and posted their sentiments. Mark Hamill was one of the first celebrities that reacted to Fishers death and stated online, "no words #Devastated" with an image of them together in character.

Harrison Ford was also shocked by Fisher's death and stated online that Carrie was one-of-a-kind, brilliant, original, funny and emotionally fearless. Harrison Ford added that Carrie Fisher lived her life bravely and his thoughts are with her daughter Billie, her mother Debbie, her brother Todd, and her many friends.

Fisher did not pass on without leaving a great legacy, however. She was set to be in the upcoming "Star Wars: Episode 8" movie that will premiere in December 2017. The Independent reports that she has actually finished taping all of her scenes, which means Hollywood has not seen the last of a wonderful actress just yet.

The publication reported that filming was wrapped up at around July 2016 and the movie is now in post-production phase. Carrie Fisher appeared on J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" in 2015 as her character, the Resistance General Leia.
