2016 has been a wonderful year so far! Apart from many other key developments in different sectors around the world, it also gave us spectacular movies. We have compiled the best movies of 2016 list which cover a lot of subjects including romance, comedy, action and adventure. Some movies do well instantly and some take a bit of time to develop the cult status. Without further ado, let us take a look at the most interesting movies of 2016. The list includes a statement making superhero movies including "Deadpool", "Captain America: Civil War", musical "La La Land", adventure films "Ghostbusters" and "Rogue One".

1. American Honey

This is a drama film where a teenage girl joins a sales crew, travels on roads, and experiences various emotions throughout the journey.

2. Hell or High Water

The story revolves around a divorced father and his older brother (an ex-con) who participate in an interesting scheme. Their aim? To save a family house and ranch in West Texas. This heist movie stars Jeff Bridges and Chris Pine.

3. Jackie

The movie follows the life of First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. It is a story of her grief, trauma and survival.

4. Moonlight

The film follows the tale of a young black man as he struggles to find his place in the world as he grows up in a rough neighbourhood of Miami. The film is his entire journey from childhood into adulthood.

5. La La Land

This romantic music starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone is a sweet watch. The film follows the romance of an aspiring actress and a struggling musician set in Los Angeles. Gosling and Stone make a watchable duo.

6. Kubo and Two Strings

This animated movie to make the list is a must watch for people who love stories about relationships, adventure and mystery. The film is about a little boy trying to find ancient artefacts to destroy an evil force. However, it is not as simple as it sounds and one needs to watch it to appreciate it.

7. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

There was a lot of hype associated with this movie in the "Star Wars" series. It focuses on a world different than the Jedi and portrays Rebel Alliance's operation for the first Death Star.

Special mention should be given to films who did not quite make the cut because they failed to generate as much excitement as they were expected to. The list includes "Suicide Squad", "Jason Bourne" latest instalment, and "Batman v. Superman".
