'Playstation VR' News: How Sega Brought 'Hatsune Miku' To Playstation VR
Jomst C."Hatsune Miku", a holographic pop star, started life as a promotional character for a music software. She appeared as a guest on talk shows and toured the world. With the partnership with Sega, Miku now has her own line of rhythm games. After the release of PlayStation VR last October, Miku took the next step, which is virtual reality.
"Hatsune Miku: VR Future Live" allows players to attend a virtual Miku concert with the theatrics. "VR Future Live" is about recreating the feeling of being at a concert. Tetsuya Ohtsubo, the game director, realised that the concept had a huge potential.
The emotional experience of a concert is the important part of the game, even though the game was inspired by a less exciting event. The idea became possible due to the extensive library of Miku's video game history with Sega. Miku's first game with Sega was "Project Diva Rhythm" which was released in 2009, and expanded ever since to multiple consoles and arcades. The game became the basis of the Miku's VR debut.
The game gives a convincing experience in recreating a concert. The blinding lights from the stage, the dark silhouettes around and even the physical engagement too. You'll need to move your arms and hands along with the tune, shout "Hello!" and "Encore!" to interact with Miku.
In the game, gamers can change their perspective on where they want to watch the concert, to the point that they can be on the stage too. The game started with just one concert and has expanded with an additional two. The game creators have a lot of ideas on how to bring more of Miku into VR. They want to allow the players to get closer to the characters or even conversing with them. The future is uncertain, but the team of creators hopes to keep creating heartfelt experiences through VR.
