Mariah Carey's Disastrous Performance At Times Square: Blame Game Begins, Singer Tweets 'S--t Happens'!

Among other events that headlined the beginning of 2017, there was certain news that really gained public traction for all the wrong reasons. One of these unfortunate events was what happened to Mariah Carey during her performance at the Times Square during the New Year's Eve!

Carey, a celebrated singer in the past years, suffered a performance nightmare in Times Square due to technical malfunctions. She could not sync vocally with her own super hit song "Emotions" because her voice and the lyrics-music duo could not properly mesh together.

Not just this song, the "We Belong Together" track was also a massive failure for the reason of lip syncing. This happens when a pre-recorded version of a song is being played in the background and the artists perform lip actions of the lyrics over the background music. A similar event happened with Ashlee Simpson a few years back.

This led to a massive dispute between Carey's representatives and the music producer involved in the NYE bash performance. Robert Goldstein, the music producer who has worked on the Times Square events for years, specified that there were no malfunctions in the equipment unlike the arguments from Mariah Carey and her representatives.

"Every monitor and in-ear device worked perfectly," Mr Goldstein said. "I can't comment beyond that and don't know what her nontechnical issue may have been." Carey's representatives obviously had another side to the whole debacle.

"Unfortunately there was nothing she could do to continue with the performance given the circumstances," the spokeswoman for Mariah Carey, Nicole Perna, told The Associated Press.

After the event, Carey resorted to acknowledging the event on social media. "S--t happens," the "Hero" singer tweeted on January 1, along with a gif (animated picture) of her shaking her head. "Have a happy and healthy new year everybody! Here's to making more headlines in 2017."
