Apple iPhone 8 Specs & Features Include A Bigger All-Glass Body With OLED Display And Wireless Charging; Read More Here!
Vinay PatelJust about three months ago, Apple launched the successors to the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, in the form of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. However, the optimistic iPhone fans never ceased anticipating the arrival of the Apple iPhone 8, successor to the recently released iPhone. Now, it looks like they will soon have something to cheer about.
Citing the huge popularity of the iPhone line, it is hardly surprising that the alleged iPhone 8 is subject to all sorts of leaks and rumors surrounding the device's release date, specs, and other details. A recently surfaced report suggests that Apple is currently hard at work on a larger display model of the iPhone 8.
Apparently, Apple is working on three different sizes for the aforesaid smartphone. The company has roped in its rival, Samsung to manufacture AMOLED panels for the new iPhone series, according to a report from DigiTimes, which cites Taiwan-based supply sources.
The three size options will comprise of the standard 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch size iPhones, which will boast Apple's regular TFT-LCD panels. In addition to this, Apple will roll out a 5.8-inch model, which will have an AMOLED display. The supply chain sources estimated the bigger iPhone at 60 to 70 million units.
Bearing in mind that Samsung will be working on the AMOLED panels for the Cupertino-based company, there is also a possibility that Apple will debut a model of the iPhone with a dual-curved edge display identical to the Galaxy S7 or Note 7 smartphone. There's word floating around that Apple is considering cutting production for the iPhone in January-March quarter. However, Apple has neither confirmed nor denied these reports yet.
Apple will go for Samsung-made curved plastic OLED panels for their next iPhone if another report from TheKoreanHerald proved to be true. Acclaimed Apple analyst Ming Chi-Kuo has already predicted that Apple iPhone 8 will sport an all-glass body and will come with an OLED display.
There's hearsay that Apple has ordered millions of curved plastic OLED displays from Samsung. In all likelihood, the curved, plastic OLED display will be sheathed around the edges to give the iPhone 8 a bezel-less design.
Identical to Apple Watch's wireless charging system, the iPhone 8 will pave the way for a wireless charging system, according to Kuo. Moreover, the glass body of the iPhone 8 will facilitate faster speeds in wireless charging with minimum interruption from frequency interference.
Apple iPhone 8 will be the company's tenth anniversary iPhone (the first iPhone debuted in 2007). Mounting shreds of evidence indicate that Apple has something big in store for the anniversary, and the tech firm will skip the 'S' branding this time.
