Changes Made From 'Final Fantasy Versus XIII' To 'Final Fantasy XV' Revealed
S. TurlaWhen Square Enix released "Final Fantasy XV" in Nov. 2016, fans were elated to finally get their hands on a game that took almost a decade to develop. However, reviews of the role-playing game (RPG) featured criticism about various aspects of the title such as its plot and game mechanics. Despite these comments, the latest entry in the "Final Fantasy" franchise has enjoyed mostly positive feedback from gamers.
"Final Fantasy XV" is still on a roll as 2017 begins, and on Dec. 28 Japanese gamers were granted access to two "Final Fantasy XV" "Ultimania" guide books that gave more details about the game's plot, setting, and assorted characters. DualShockers revealed that with the help of xXShuyaXx, a Mognetcentral forum user, fans of the game who did not have access to the guide books found out trivia about Square Enix's RPG.
Players who are not done with the main story mode of "Final Fantasy XV" are advised that the rest of this article might contain spoilers for the ending and other plot points for the title. xXShuyaXx's post revealed several statements from the game's director, Hajime Tabata, which concerned changes made in "Final Fantasy Versus XIII" "Final Fantasy XV's" previously announced title.
"Final Fantasy Versus XIII" and "Final Fantasy XIII" were both set in a story about the Goddess in the "Fabula Nova Crystallis" series but as the game's title was finalized into "Final Fantasy XV," Stella, the previously announced heroine for "Versus XIII" changed into "XV's" Luna. The post also revealed that despite the changes and the switch from the PlayStation 3 to the PlayStation 4, "Final Fantasy XV's" main plot was mostly still based on ideas that were supposed to be used for "Versus XIII."
Superespresso, a Tumblr user, has also provided "Ultimania" translations which revealed the age of some of the characters. Iris is 15, Cidney is 26, Aranea is 30 and Cor is 45. Loqi Tummelt, the Brigadier General of the Nifleheim army, was revealed to be in his early twenties.
Spoilers for "Final Fantasy XV" include Prompto's real father, Verstael Besithia, who is described as a "mad scientist who aimed to create the strongest existence by his own hand." Verstael manages the Nifleheim empire's research laboratories, and he created the Magitek soldiers that Noctis and his friends occasionally fight in the game.
Sharp-eyed gamers will recall "SAF" written on the Imperial Army's vehicles, and the translations reveal that this stood for an Imperial General named Safay Roth who was unfortunately cut during "Final Fantasy XV's" development. The guide books didn't confirm details about the game's ending, which was left up to the players' interpretation.
