'Death Stranding' Creator Hideo Kojima Reveals Decima Engine Modifications
Nicole T.Hideo Kojima is now working on his first game together with Guerilla Games after leaving Konami. The creator and Kojima Productions will be making use of GG's Decima Engine for "Death Stranding." However, it has been revealed that Kojima will not simply "borrow" the technology.
According to Gaming Bolt, Hideo Kojima will, instead, use the engine as more of a base. Decima Engine will be modified to be more suitable for "Death Stranding." Based on two of its teasers, fans have a lot to look forward to, like the story and, of course, the amazing graphics.
Kojima is planning to create several modifications for the Decima Engine. Reports say that this is to avoid making "Death Stranding" appear more like "Horizon Zero Dawn." The latter was created by Guerilla Games with the help of the game engine. "Horizon Zero Dawn" will be released this March.
"The latest teaser trailer runs on the Guerrilla Games engine, but we're aiming for a different visual style than 'Horizon Zero Dawn', so many modifications have been made," Hideo Kojima said in an interview with Sugoi Japan. "It's also not just a simple case of borrowing the engine from Guerrilla Games; they said that they want to collaborate with KojiPro."
Nonetheless apart from the fact that Kojima will be creating "Death Stranding" with the help of Decima Engine, little to nothing is revealed about the game. As of now, fans can take a sneak peek of the game with teasers that Kojima Productions has released.
The first teaser shows the main antagonist in the form of Norman Reedus. During his interview, Kojima has also mentioned that he wanted to show Reedus in a different light. Fans are more likely to remember him as the badass, crossbow and motorcycle-loving Daryl Dixon on "The Walking Dead."
The second teaser featured the main antagonist Mads Mikkelsen. The creator has also revealed his love for the actor, to the point where he apparently watches one of his movies daily.
As for the story, fans are still confused as to what the teasers mean and what the game will deliver. However, Hideo Kojima has a reputation for creating awe-inspiring games and fans are eager for "Death Stranding."
