Tesla Wins Hearts By Offering 2 More Weeks Of Free Charging; Supercharger Fee Implemented
Ritwik RoyTesla is offering free charging for two more weeks and owners now have until Jan. 15, 2017 to avail the offer. This would mean a massive rush for Tesla to handle as electric vehicles post Jan. 15 will not get unlimited free access to the company's supercharger facilities. This two week of bliss has made customers immensely happy. When Tesla first announced free access back in November, it gave a Jan. 1, 2017 deadline.
According to Tech Times, this move means buyers who purchase a Tesla EV in the next few days will still be entitled to receive unlimited charging for the entire lifetime of the purchased car. Those buying after Jan. 15 will still be entitled to free charging up to 400kWh per year, which translates to 1,000 miles. Tesla staff is busy finalizing a charging scheme and the company has assured its buyers that it will still be cheaper than gas.
The free charging facility is a massive boost to encourage people to buy Tesla EVs though the service may not be sustainable in the long run. Tesla is also striving to put a more efficient charging system in place. Owners of Tesla vehicles have been leaving their vehicles idle at the supercharger stations. The automaker has also introduced a fine for every minute the vehicles remain connected at the supercharger stations after getting fully charged.
Two of the most visited Tesla supercharger facilities in the US are ChargePoint and AeroVironment. ChargePoint is considered as one of the largest charging networks in the US. The company follows a pay-as-you-go scheme though prices do vary as most of the stations are independently owned. Aerovironment offers specific packages that include unlimited charging access. Users may also opt for a pay-as-you-go option.
Stay tuned on Mobile & Apps for more updates on the Tesla's unlimited free access to its supercharger facilities.
