We almost saw the "Interstellar" actor Matthew McConaughey in the Marvel's movie "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," but he chose another movie instead. This year, McConaughey will play the role as a villainous character in "The Dark Tower" movie.

The Marvel and "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" movie director James Gunn wanted to cast Matthew McConaughey to play the villainous role in the movie sequel. Because the actor chose another movie, "The Dark Tower," the search for the Marvel's "Guardians" villain continues.

An interview with Playboy, Matthew McConaughey spoke about the issue. He was asked why he turned down roles in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" film in favor of his role as the Man in Black in "The Dark Tower."

"I like the Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy," said Matthew McConaughey. He continued, "but what I saw was 'It's successful, and now we have got room to make a colorful part for another big-name actor.' I'd feel like an amendment. 'The Dark Tower' movie script was well written, I like the director and his take on it, and I can be the creator too, the author of the Man in Black, also known as the Devil, in my version of this Stephen King novel."

According to The Mary Sue report, the Man in Black, alias Walter and Randall Flag, is the main antagonist in the King's novel movie adaptation "The Dark Tower." Matthew McConaughey also said he enjoyed approaching his character as if he were the Devil having a good time, getting turned on by exposing human hypocrisies wherever he finds them.

Matthew McConaughey probably has a little more creative freedom on "The Dark Tower" movie to establish the Man in Black character as his own than he would have by joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" movie.
