A new poster has just been released for "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." The show will be back on January 10 to wrap up its fourth season, but the poster has just hinted on a shift focus in its plot.

As seen on Comic Book Movie, the new marketing material shows Melinda May -- played by Ming-Na Wen -- the letters "LMD," "Strange Tales" and the numbers "135." Long-time followers of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are well aware of the Easter eggs that are present in this image.

LMD means Life Model Decoys, which are doppelgängers that will be focused on one thing only: and that is to infiltrate the group. It was revealed at the final episode of 2016 that Melinda was replaced by an LMD. AIDA - Dr. Radcliffe's first LMD - killed an agent, kidnapped the real Melinda, and replaced her with an LMD version. This plot twist could end up destroying her new-found relationship with Agent Coulson.

LMDs were first introduced to the Marvel world in the comic series "Strange Tales" #135. Aside from that, this issue also featured Nick Fury's return into the present day (of the story), which was 1965. Even more interestingly, Helicarriers, Hydra, and S.H.I.E.L.D. were also first introduced to Marvel comic readers in "Strange Tales" #135.

Screen Rant has reported that "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 4 will continue the LMD story arc, as well as further delve into AIDA's work with the occult. After all, the "Strange Tales" label is also regarded as a reference to the Marvel comic series that featured Doctor Strange.

Doctor Strange's possible involvement in the series will help solidify a Darkhold connection that assisted AIDA in gaining sentience and creating mandalas that are similar to the ones featured in the recent film.

Multiple news sources have reported that AIDA will be the biggest threat when "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 4 returns to small screens in 2017. "Trust is always an issue in a spy organization," executive producer Jed Whedon told IGN. "It is much worse when you do not know if the person next to you is the person next to you."
