‘Hearthstone’ Tavern Brawl; ‘The Dark Wanderer:’ A Tribute To ‘Diablo?’ What Players Could Expect
Keisha WallaceBlizzard has released "The Dark Wanderer," this week's free "Hearthstone" Tavern Brawl. The new Brawl is reportedly intended as a tribute to "Diablo" franchise in celebration of the game's 20th anniversary. Below are relevant information that detail what players could expect in the newly launched game mode.
For starters, the game mode requires players to build their own decks and face-off with a hooded enemy who also holds a deck. Called the Dark Wanderer, he has Diabolical Powers that he uses to summon several imps. He is said to be a Warlock so he can also bring all sorts of demon synergies and Warlock cards to the battle as pointed out by Touch Arcade.
"The Dark Wanderer" Brawl begins the game with three random secrets that need to be revealed. It is important to note, however, that the Eater of Secrets card and the rest of secret-destroying cards are not playable in the new Brawl. Players should defeat the opponent's minions and get some special rewards such as a random weapon from the Weapon Rack, five armors from the Discarded Armor and two golds from the Chest of Gold.
Players can track the number of defeated minions and unlocked secrets through the scoreboard shown at the end of the game. Once the secrets are all out, the player may enter Phase 2 called The Cow King where they get the chance to transform into a Cow King if they successfully steal the Enigmatic Portal. In the second level, the Cow King who holds many powers in his deck serves as the opponent.
However, players can actually win "The Dark Wanderer" without entering the second phase. The Cow King is seemingly a bonus level that is referenced to "Diablo II's" cow level according to iDigitalTimes. That said, Phase 2 is not purposed to give an extra reward unlike the first level.
