Nintendo Classic Mini NES Stock Update: Prices Drop Online Despite Continued Lack Of Supply In Stores
Blair GrantThe online price of Nintendo Classic Mini NES has reportedly dropped online despite the continued lack of supply to meet the growing demands among users. The price drop was seen even before the company releases its official stock update for the gaming console.
The Nintendo Classic Mini NES was considered as one of the gaming company's best Christmas gifts to users. However, the company did not realize the demand for the classic gaming console, which led to a shortage in supply and increase in the price among third-party sellers.
Now that the holidays are over, Express reports that the price of the Classic Mini NES has already seen a drop among third-party sellers in Amazon, eBay and CEX. Back then, users who wanted to get their hands on the classic Nintendo console had to pay at least £150 ($190).
The publication notes that there are sellers who are listing the Mini NES as low as £115 ($140) before Nintendo announces the official refresh of their stocks. The original price of the NES is £49 ($60).
Forbes also notes that the company underestimated the demand for the console, which may be the reason for the shortage. Even the company's President, Reggie Fils-Aimé admitted that the demand for the Mini NES was greater than their expectations.
Nintendo has also recently decided to trademark their Super Nintendo Classic Edition (SNES), which led to speculations that the company will soon release another classic console soon. The SNES Classic Edition is believed to be released in 2017 or 2018 and will hopefully be released with more stocks than the mini NES.
Many users also expressed hope that the SNES Classic Edition, should Nintendo officially release one, will have better features than the Classic Mini NES. Some users complained that the cable that came in with the console was too short (3 ft), so many are expecting to see longer cables in the SNES.
