Once players get into the finer elements of the "Pokemon Sun and Moon" game, the topic of rarest Pokemon is bound to arise. Completing the Pokedex becomes difficult as well as time-consuming as some of the rarest Pokemon naturally have very low encounter rates. However, the Alola region is home to many rare Pokemon and they can be encountered only after meeting certain specific conditions and visiting certain spots.

Some of the rarest Alolan Pokemon are Salamence, Mareanie, Salazzle, Dhelmise and Castform. If a "Pokemon Sun and Moon" players really want to find them and catch them, it won't be an easy ride. Salamence has just a one percent encounter rate and is the hardest to catch. It's found in Melemele Island, especially in Route 3. A Bagon, also with a one percent encounter rate, can be found by the patch of grass while crossing the bridge.

When the Bagon is used during the SOS chaining period, it will Salamence for help. Players must keep on repeating this process until Salamence appears. Mareanie is evolved from Toxapex. Mareanie appears only after a player has found Corsola. "Pokemon Sun and Moon" players need to fish on bubbling patches on the ocean to increase the chances of catching Corsola to 20 percent.

The Fire/Poison type Salazzle evolves from a female Salandit. The encounter rate for this Pokemon is 12 percent. To catch Dhelmise, a "Pokemon Sun and Moon" player needs to head to the Seafolk Village where he can fish at the bubbling spot. This spot increases the chances of finding Dhelmise from one percent to 10 percent. The player's determination will be tested from then on as he will have to keep trying until Dhelmise appears.

Many believe that the hardest Pokemon to catch on "Pokemon Sun and Moon" is Castform as it can morph into Ice, Fire or Water forms depending on the weather. While it can be summoned via an SOS battle, players need to look at certain spots such as Malie Garden, Tapu Village, Haina Desert, Lush Jungle, Exeggutor Island and Route 117, reports Video Games Republic.
