Xbox One Backward Compatibility Game Releases Resumes Shortly
Rei LantionConsidering they just launched the program last November 2015, Microsoft's Xbox One backward compatibility program has proven to be a resounding success. Now almost two years in the running, they have amassed over 300 titles on their list of backward compatibility games. This month, Xbox One owners may have more new titles to look forward to.
According to Daily Star, Xbox Head Phil Spencer was asked by a fan last Christmas for some sort of teaser of what players could look forward to from their services. Spencer allegedly tweeted that January looked "pretty good" for backwards compatibility.
This was further supported by Xbox Platform PM lead Bill Sitwell. Sitwell informed his own followers that they planned to resume BC game releases this week.
Sitwell also mentioned in his tweet last January 5th that there was a lot of misinformation "floating around" regarding the games and was quick to say that none of it was real. As of this writing, there have been no confirmed or denied tiles.
There does seem to be a high request for AAA games such as "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2" and "Assassin's Creed Rogue." Given that Microsoft has already released A-list titles such as "Red Dead Redemption," the "Bioshock" Trilogy and "The Elder Scrolls for BC," it won't be that much of a stretch to see the former games included.
For those unfamiliar with the Xbox One backward compatibility program, it simply makes classic Xbox 360 games playable on Xbox One. Cinemablend has a full list of games under backwards compatibility, which one can view here.
If players own an Xbox One but are interested in trying out games such as "Beyond Good & Evil" or "Burnout Paradise," they can head over to the Xbox One backward compatibility section on the Xbox store and search for chosen classic. The two free Xbox 360 games released this month under the Games with Gold program, "The Cave," and "Rayman Origins," are also playable on the Xbox One with backward compatibility.
