The CW just made some exciting announcement on Jan. 8 via the TCA press tour. The TV network relayed that it will be renewing most of the favorite programs for 2017 broadcast.

The CW confirmed that four DC shows including "Super Girl," "The Flash," "Arrow" and "Legends of Tomorrow" are all coming back for new seasons. Aside from these, "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend," "Supernatural" and "Jane the Virgin" are returning as well.

As everyone already knows, the top favorite series "The Vampire Diaries" will not air anymore as it is already on its eight and final season. DC's "Constantine" which was cancelled a few years ago will return instead and it will be on The CW Seed since it will be in animation format.

Deadline noted that no exact number of episodes for the returning series were mentioned during the announcement. Then again, CW President Mark Pedowitz stated that around 22-23 episodes are the best number for the DC series. All of the renewed series will air throughout 2017 - 2018.

"Over the past several seasons, The CW has built a schedule of proven performers, from our lineup of DC superheroes, to critically acclaimed comedies, to sci-fi dramas," Variety quoted The CW boss Mark Pedowitz as saying. "Early pickups of these seven series now allow our producers to plan ahead for next season."

It is not surprising that some new shows were not renewed for another season and it was said that this is the first time in The CW's history that a fall series did not get a full season order. The drama "Frequency" and romantic comedy "No Tomorrow" did not get a back order from the network.

Incidentally, there are other The CW oiginal series that are sill waiting for either renewal or cancellation order. The shows that still need to receive any order are "The Originals," "The 100," "iZombie." Meanwhile, the teen drama "Riverdale" is expected to air this 2017 while "Reign" is coming back for its final season.
