Samsung Foldable Phone Leaks: Galaxy X Is Likely Be Unveiled in Q3 2017
Cores Grace MalaayThere have been reports that Samsung is going to bring in a foldable phone this year around the Q3 and there will be over 100,000 units to be rolled out. The Samsung foldable phone has been in the news before, which is dubbed as the Galaxy X.
Previous reports have pointed for a release window of the Samsung Galaxy X sometime in late 2017, which includes an information that leaked on Twitter in the past week referencing to a Q3 or Q4 of 2017 timing of arrival of the foldable phone. If this could happen, it would be a great timing for the big tech show IFA 2017, which happens in September 2017.
The Samsung Galaxy X is reportedly to fold outward and when unfolded, the phone is going to transform into a functional 7-inch tablet, according to Tech Radar. Samsung initially developed a phone that folds inward but decided to change gears in August 2016 as the company thinks that it'd be a hassle for users unfolding the device whenever they want to use it.
Lenovo has also created a fold-out design in its devices, which also includes a phone that transforms into a wearable device as well as a foldable tablet that turns into a phablet-sized device. While Samsung appears to be pushing out with the Samsung Galaxy X foldable phone, there have been speculations that it might rebuff a 2017 release because of marketing and profitability issues.
Furthermore, a decision will be possibly made once the Samsung executive level reshuffle takes place in February or March as one of Samsung executives is currently facing a bribery scandal, which involves the South Korean president that's been impeached recently, reports Digital Trends. Samsung's foldable phone was previously called Project Valley before it's being dubbed as Galaxy X, which the company introduced its foldable phone concept at CES 2013 and showcased a prototype version in a private meeting at CES 2014.
